Dr.Russell Burcombe - Consultant Clinical Oncologist
Qualified at The London Hospital Medical College, 1991, with intercalated BSc in Biochemistry .Completed General Medical postgraduate training and MRCP, 1994. Appointed to North Thames Clinical Oncology training rotation; Registrar at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and The Middlesex Hospital. Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR}, 1998. Research Fellow at The Gray Cancer Institute and Marie Curie Research Wing, Mount Vernon Hospital, 1999-2001: research studying the prediction of response to primary chemotherapy in breast cancer has been presented at national and international conferences.
Consultant Radiation Oncologist in Christchurch, New Zealand, 2002. Senior Registrar at St Bartholomew's Hospital, 2003. Appointed Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, March 2004 to treat breast cancer at the Kent Oncology Centre and lung cancer at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.
Special interests include the use of primary chemotherapy for operable breast cancer and the recruitment of patients into clinical trials.
